baap re baap akshay kumar ka jalwa box office PAR|| first day collection huge amount|| JOHN ki hui bolti band

Gold box office collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar starrer has earned Rs 25.25 crore on its first day.
Akshay Kumar starrer Gold, which released on Independence Day, has managed to earn Rs 25.25 crore on its opening day. The film was released alongside John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate, which has earned Rs 20.52 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Gold has an EXTRAORDINARY Day 1… Takes a FAB START at plexes across major centres… Wed ₹ 25.25 cr. India biz.”

“Reema Kagti is skilled enough to give us a film with all its moving parts in fine working order, even if it is bereft of nuance. Akshay plays the wholly fictional Tapan Das, the man who has been closely involved with Indian hockey for years, from the pre-World War II years when the ‘British Indian’ hockey wizards under the great Dhyan Chand ran off the Germans in the 1936 Berlin Olympics (in the movie, we see the grumpy character playing Hitler stomp out of the stadium) to the time after, when the freedom struggle and the Quit India movement was at its peak, resulting in the bloody Partition which divided the sub-continent, and tore the Indian hockey team apart. Some went to Pakistan, some to Australia, the rest disbanded dispiritedly,” The Indian Express’ critic Shubhra Gupta wrote in her review of the film.

Gold’s primary plot revolves around junior manager Tapan Das and his dream of winning a gold medal for the country’s hockey team. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Sunny Kaushal, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles.

Gold had a very strong opening day of around 25.25 crore nett which is the same range as Baaghi 2 and will be the 3rd or 4th highest opening day of the year. It is easily the highest opening day ever for Akshay Kumar as it beat the 16.98 crore nett of Singh Is Bling which was also released on a national holiday (Gandhi Jayanti).

The film had strong numbers in metro multiplexes which was always likely but even mass centres where normally this type would take a lesser opening opened to strong numbers due to the presence of a star like Akshay Kumar coupled with the holiday factor.

The best collections have come in Mumbai and Delhi / UP while East Punjab lost around 50 lakhs nett due to two Punjabi films Mr & Mrs 420 Returns and Dakuaan Da Munda taking out a big chunk of that market not only for Gold but Satyameva Jayate too. Mysore and West Bengal where Akshay Kumar films tend to have lower collections have done

There will be a fall on day two for Gold as the holiday factor comes out and it goes into a working day and that too Thursday but it remains to be seen where the collections go on Thursday. The multiplex audience should be back over the weekend as long as the content is accepted..

Satyemeva Jayate has also done very well collecting around 18.50 crore nett which is a huge number for this film. It has scored all over with all circuits recording very strong collections even the ones dominated by multiplexes. Mysore is a bit low but that is expected but it looks to have edged out Gold in Bihar, Assam and Odisha while collections in Rajasthan, CP Berar and CI are in the same range.

It is easily the highest opening day for a John Abraham starrer be it a solo starrer or multistarrer and will be 5tth or 6th highest opening day of the year. Though the collections are lower than Gold the footfalls will be just 5% less as it has a larger chunk of business coming from single screens and smaller multiplexes. The key is now how well the film can sustain and it does not have to do much work from this sort of start to be a success but eventually for all to benefit from it has to sustain at some level as that will mean some appreciation for the film rather.

 STORY OF GOLD MOVIE

his Independence Day, Akshay Kumar is back with another film that is high on patriotic pride. Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, revolves around independent India's first Olympic gold win. This feat was achieved by the Indian men's hockey team on August 12, 1948.

While Gold has been inspired by true events, the makers have taken certain creative liberties. Before the film hits the theatres tomorrow, here is the inspiring story of the victory at the 1948 Summer Olympics in 10 points:
1. The Indian men's hockey team won the country's first Olympic medal as a free nation in 1948 at the 14th London Olympiad.
2. The London Olympics was the first Olympics held post World War II. It was held after a gap of 12 years, with the previous one being the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
3. The India team that played in the London Olympics was a brand new one, with all the great players from the earlier gold-winning team, including top goal scorer Dhyan Chand, having retired.
4. The captain of the new team was Kishen Lal, with KD Singh (Babu) being the vice-captain. This was the first time when India marched holding the tricolour, as a free nation, in the opening ceremony at the Wembley Stadium.
5. India played its first match against Austria. The Indian team beat the Austrian team hollow, with the scorecard reading 8-0. They went on to defeat Argentina 9-1. India was victorious against Spain in the quarterfinal (2-0) and against Holland in the semi-final (2-1).
6. The final match was played against Britain. Indians took on their former rulers and won in style, defeating the British 4-0.
7. This was the fourth consecutive gold medal for the Team India in the sport, and its first as an independent nation.
8. After the Indian team's victory, free India's first High Commissioner to England, VK Krishna Menon, gave the players an official reception at India House. The team was also sent on a fortnight-long goodwill tour of Europe, where they visited France, Czechoslovakia and Switzerland.
9. Incidentally, Pakistan was also contesting as a free nation for the first time, and there were strong chances of an India-Pakistan final. However, Britain defeated Pakistan in the semi-final and went on to play India in the final match.
10. When the victorious team returned to the country, they received a grand welcome. The victory celebrations went on for days and came to an end in Delhi, where Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and President Rajendra Prasad attended the winning team's exhibition match at the National Stadium.

Gold vs Satyameva Jayate: Which film will win box office battle?

Bollywood is gearing up for a massive collision at the box office next week. Two big-ticket releases, Akshay Kumar's Gold and John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate, will lock horns on Independence Day. But who will emerge the winner in this race?
Ever since Baby hit the screens on Republic Day 2015, Akshay Kumar has become the poster-boy of patriotism in Bollywood. It is widely known that Republic Day and Independence Day are earmarked for his films, which revolve around the nation and are sprinkled with generous doses of patriotism.
Gold, which tells the story of independent India's first Olympic gold win, is high on patriotic pride, and therefore, a perfect Independence Day release.
On the other hand, John Abraham is closely following his close friend's footsteps. Earlier this year, he gave us Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, an elaborate nationalistic tale about India's transformation into a nuclear state.
In the film, John launches into lofty monologues about the country, and music meant to instill you with pride plays in the background.
Satyameva Jayate has the actor playing a vigilante who fights against corruption and social injustice. "Beimaan Pitega, Corruption Mitega," is the tagline of the film.
Both the Independence Day releases are equally steeped in patriotism. But in terms of star power, Akshay is a bigger box office draw than John.
Despite revolving around the 'taboo' subject of menstruation, Akshay's last release Pad Man earned Rs 40.05 crore in its opening weekend. Meanwhile, John's previous Bollywood outing Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran raked in Rs 20.78 crore in the first three days.
From the looks of it, Gold will get a headstart in the race. However, it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the final battle.
